Frase plans and pricing at a glance
Every figure below comes from Frase's own pricing page and its billing documentation. Yearly billing takes 20 percent off the monthly rate, and the yearly price is the one Frase shows first.
| Plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | Seats | Sites | Articles / month | Audit pages / month | Content Guard pages |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $39 per month | $49 per month | 1 | 1 | 10 | 50 | 10 |
| Professional | $103 per month | $129 per month | 3 | 5 | 40 | 250 | 75 |
| Scale | $239 per month | $299 per month | 5 | 10 | 100 | 1,000 | 300 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom |
AI Visibility tracking also scales with the plan. Starter tracks ChatGPT and Google AI, Professional adds Perplexity plus AI crawler monitoring, and Scale adds Claude and Gemini. Professional is where Frase puts the content calendar and internal linking suggestions, and Scale adds client-ready reports for agencies.
What each Frase limit means in practice
Articles are the unit of writing work: a researched, optimized piece that Frase drafts or scores. Ten a month on Starter is roughly one every two working days. Audit pages are pages Frase crawls and scores for SEO, GEO, and AI visibility issues, and the count resets monthly, so a 400-page site uses 400 audit pages every time you run a full audit.
Content Guard is the part that matters if your traffic is sliding. It watches a published page's Google rankings through Search Console, and when the page slips it writes a revised version and republishes it to your CMS once you approve. Frase's documentation lists three requirements: the article must have been originally created in Frase, it needs a published URL attached, and Google Search Console must be connected. An archive written before you bought Frase has to be brought into the workspace before Content Guard can watch it.
Seats and sites are hard caps on Starter. Professional and Scale let you add seats at $29 per month each.
Frase overage and add-on costs
Starter stops at its monthly limits, so it never produces a surprise bill. Professional and Scale offer optional pay-as-you-go overages, switched off by default and billed at the end of the cycle.
| Extra usage | Starter | Professional | Scale |
|---|---|---|---|
| Extra seat | Not available | $29 per month | $29 per month |
| Extra article | Plan stops at the limit | $5 each | $4 each |
| Extra audit page | Plan stops at the limit | $0.50 each | $0.40 each |
| Extra AI prompt | Plan stops at the limit | $0.25 each | $0.20 each |
Plan changes follow a simple rule: upgrades are prorated right away, and downgrades take effect at your next billing cycle. If you expect a heavy month, compare the overage bill with one month on the next tier before you switch overages on.
How much does Frase cost per year?
At list prices, before extra seats or overages:
| Plan | Yearly billing | Monthly billing, 12 months | Yearly billing saves |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $468 | $588 | $120 |
| Professional | $1,236 | $1,548 | $312 |
| Scale | $2,868 | $3,588 | $720 |
Seats move the number more than anything else. A five-person team on Professional pays for two extra seats, which adds $696 a year and brings the plan to $1,932 on yearly billing. At that point Scale, with five seats included, costs $936 more a year but also gives you four times the audit pages and Content Guard coverage. For a growing team the break-even usually lands on Scale sooner than the sticker prices suggest.
What Frase costs for a team refreshing existing content
Here is a worked example. A four-person content team at a US SaaS company owns a 400-page blog, wants every page watched for decay, and plans to refresh about 30 declining posts a month.
- Starter ($468 a year): ruled out. One seat, one site, and Content Guard on 10 pages.
- Professional ($1,584 a year with one extra seat): Content Guard covers 75 of the 400 pages. A full monthly audit needs 150 audit pages beyond the 250 included, which is $75 in overages each month you run it.
- Scale ($2,868 a year): seats and audit pages are covered, and Content Guard watches 300 pages. The last 100 still go unwatched, and posts written before Frase need to be brought into the workspace first.
The honest reading: Frase prices its plans around producing and publishing content, and Content Guard is a strong addition for pages you create inside it. When most of the job is maintaining a large library that was written somewhere else, you pay for article credits and AI writing capacity to reach the monitoring coverage you actually need.
Is Frase worth the price?
Frase is worth the price when you want one system for research, briefs, drafting, publishing to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, or Wix, and tracking AI visibility. Starter at $39 a month is one of the cheapest ways to get SERP-based briefs and scoring, and Professional is fair value for a small team that publishes weekly.
It is harder to justify when your stack already covers writing and publishing, or when your growth problem is decay across hundreds of existing pages. Two questions settle it. Does your team publish more new articles than it refreshes? Then Frase fits the work. Is organic traffic flat while the archive keeps growing? Then the bottleneck is maintenance, and you want a tool whose unit of work is the page you already own. Our Frase alternative page compares the two approaches feature by feature, including where Frase wins.

A published-price option for refreshing pages you already own
Reoptimize does one job: it keeps the pages you already published competitive, wherever they were written. Import a sitemap and it monitors every page, ranks the declining ones by estimated traffic at stake, and turns each into a rewrite plan a writer can execute the same day. The plan covers the title and meta, the subtopics ranking pages cover and yours skips, heading order, internal links to add and where from, the schema the page qualifies for, and the facts that date it.
Starter is $49 per month billed yearly for 100 monitored pages and 20 rewrite plans. Pro is $149 per month for 1,000 pages, 150 rewrite plans, and 5 seats, which covers the 400-page example above for $1,788 a year. Agency is $399 per month for 5,000 pages across multiple sites. Compare every plan on the pricing page, or paste one of your own URLs into the analyzer at the top of this page to see a real plan first. If you are not sure how much of your library is slipping, start with the content decay checker.
Reoptimize does not write new articles, publish to your CMS, or track AI answers the way Frase does. If that is the work in front of you, Frase is a good tool at a fair price.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Frase cost per month?
Frase costs $39 per month for Starter, $103 for Professional, and $239 for Scale on yearly billing. Monthly billing is $49, $129, and $299. Enterprise is quoted individually. Extra seats are $29 per month on Professional and Scale, and those two plans can switch on pay-as-you-go overages for articles, audit pages, and AI prompts.
Does Frase have a free trial?
Yes. Frase offers a 7-day trial with no credit card. Its documentation lists the trial allowance as 1 domain, 3 team seats, 5 articles, 10 briefs, 50 audit pages, and 25 AI prompts, which is enough to test the workflow on a few real pages before choosing a paid plan.
Is Frase worth it?
Frase is worth it for teams that want research, briefs, drafting, CMS publishing, and AI visibility tracking in one tool, and Starter is one of the cheapest entry points in the category. It is weaker value for maintaining a large archive written elsewhere, because Content Guard watches a capped number of pages created inside Frase.
What happens when you hit your Frase plan limits?
On Starter, the plan simply stops at its monthly limit until the next cycle, so there are no surprise charges. On Professional and Scale you can switch on overages: $5 or $4 per extra article, $0.50 or $0.40 per audit page, and $0.25 or $0.20 per AI prompt, billed at the end of the cycle.
Can I switch Frase plans later?
Yes. Frase prorates upgrades immediately and applies downgrades at the start of your next billing cycle. Yearly billing takes 20 percent off the monthly rate, so if you expect to change tiers within a few months, starting on monthly billing keeps you flexible for a slightly higher price.
What is a cheaper alternative to Frase?
For drafting on a budget, NeuronWriter starts at $19 per month billed yearly. For monitoring and refreshing pages you already published, Reoptimize starts at $49 per month billed yearly with 100 monitored pages, and Pro covers 1,000 pages for $149, compared with 300 Content Guard pages on Frase Scale at $239.
