AthenaHQ pricing has three tiers. Essential is free, Starter is $295 a month for 3,600 credits, and Enterprise is custom. One credit equals one AI response, so the credit count sets how many answers you can measure each month. Figures below come from the vendor pricing page checked in October 2026, in USD excluding tax.

AthenaHQ tracks how often your brand appears in AI answers across engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and Claude. It measures visibility. It does not rewrite the pages behind the gaps, so the editing work needs its own budget.

The pricing page shows an annual toggle labeled 17 percent off but prints no yearly figure. Applying 17 percent to $295 gives roughly $245 a month, but treat that as an estimate and ask for the actual annual quote. API access and extra credits are paid add-ons billed on top of the subscription.

What is an AthenaHQ credit and what does it cost?

A credit is one AI response. Starter divides to about $0.08 per credit ($295 divided by 3,600). If you track 50 prompts on 4 engines and sample each one daily, that is 200 responses a day, or about 6,000 a month, which is already more than the 3,600 included. Credits, not prompts, are the real limit, so write down how often you need each prompt checked before choosing a tier.

Tracking setupResponses a monthFits in 3,600 credits
25 prompts, 3 engines, weeklyAbout 325Yes, with room to spare
50 prompts, 4 engines, weeklyAbout 870Yes
50 prompts, 4 engines, dailyAbout 6,000No, needs add-on credits
100 prompts, 6 engines, weeklyAbout 2,600Yes

These are our own arithmetic from the credit definition (weeks counted as 4.35 a month), not vendor figures.

Is AthenaHQ free?

Partly. The Essential tier costs nothing and includes 300 credits on 5 platforms, enough to test a short prompt list once. It is a trial in practice. Any ongoing monitoring across 11 models, or daily sampling, moves you to Starter at $295 a month.

AthenaHQ sits at the same price as Scrunch but meters differently, so compare on your own prompt list and sampling frequency. Our Profound alternatives and Peec AI alternatives comparisons rank the tools by job and budget.

Is AthenaHQ worth it?

It is worth it when you need broad engine coverage with unlimited seats and have a named owner for the reports. Starter covers 11 models in one plan, which cheaper trackers charge extra for. It is harder to justify when your actual problem is a library of published pages losing clicks, because a measurement tool shows the gap and leaves the fix to you.

What to budget after the tracker shows a gap

Tracking tells you which prompts you lost. The pages behind those answers still need an answer-first opening, current facts, comparison tables, missing questions, internal links, and schema. That is editorial time or a separate tool.

Take a US SaaS team with a 500-page blog. Reoptimize Pro monitors up to 1,000 pages and includes 150 rewrite plans a month for $89 a month billed yearly, or $179 billed monthly. Add that to AthenaHQ Starter and the combined bill is about $384 a month (monthly billing on Starter), with one tool measuring visibility and the other ranking declining pages by traffic at stake and writing the plan for each. Reoptimize does not track prompts or AI citations, so it complements a tracker rather than replacing one. Start with the content decay checker to see which pages are slipping, then plan the edits with the content refresh tool.

If the same team also needs a marketing plan for the refreshed pages, an AI-built marketing plan from your site URL is a quick next step once the rewrites are live.

Does AthenaHQ have a free trial?

It has a free Essential tier rather than a timed trial. Essential includes 300 credits and 5 platforms with unlimited users, so you can test a short prompt list before paying for Starter.

How many AI platforms does AthenaHQ track?

Starter tracks 11 models: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI, and Mistral. Essential covers 5. Enterprise adds more on request.

Does AthenaHQ fix my content?

No. It measures visibility in AI answers and surfaces gaps. Rewriting the pages is a separate job, handled by your editors or a page-level tool such as Reoptimize.
